These holiday cards feature five different drawings done by Monuments Men CPT. Deane Keller in 1944, while serving in Italy.
Determined to serve his country and help the Italian people, forty-one-year-old Deane Keller, a portrait painter and Professor of Art at Yale University, volunteered to serve in the United States Army during World War II. His decision came at a considerable personal cost: he would not see his wife, Kathy, and three-year-old son, Dino, for three years. Despite his absence, Keller parented Dino from afar, using drawings of his day-to-day experiences as a jointly understood language.
